Kate Garraway appeared close and supportive of broadcaster Liam Halligan on Friday as he prepared to undertake a demanding 300km charity bike ride from London to Paris.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 59, posed smiling alongside Halligan and his cycling partner Serge Kogan before the pair set off on their tandem cycling challenge.

Halligan later shared an update on X, writing: “It’s today! London-to-Paris in 24 hours, 300km, on a tandem.”

Halligan and Kogan aim to complete the challenging journey within 24 hours to raise money and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a condition Halligan was diagnosed with during childhood.

The award-winning journalist previously served as economics and business editor at GB News and currently writes a column for The Sunday Telegraph.

Halligan is also a single father and shares three children — son Max and daughters Maeve and Ailis — with journalist Lucy Ward, from whom he is separated.

Liam Halligan addresses friendship with Kate Garraway

During an appearance on TalkTV host Mark Dolan’s show earlier this week, Halligan spoke openly about his friendship with Garraway.

When asked about speculation surrounding the pair, Halligan described them as “good friends” and suggested that their relationship was still developing.

“I’ve known her for a long time, I knew Derek,” he said, referring to Garraway’s late husband Derek Draper.

“In recent years, for different reasons, we have both become single, against our wishes. So, in recent weeks and months, Kate and I have become good friends.”

Garraway lost Draper in 2024 following long-term health complications linked to COVID-19.

Celebrity Traitors experience described as transformative

The television presenter recently appeared on the BBC reality competition Celebrity Traitors, an experience she reportedly described as “transformative” following the death of her husband.

Fans have continued to praise Garraway for her resilience and openness during a difficult period in her personal life, while supporters also wished Halligan success in his charity fundraising challenge.
