Karachi, March 19, 2025 – The Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has officially requested an extension for the membership renewal deadline, citing disruptions caused by the upcoming Eid ul Fitr holidays.
The Chamber emphasized the importance of providing businesses additional time to complete the renewal process without unnecessary challenges.
In a formal letter addressed to the Director General Trade Organization (DGTO), KCCI Secretary General S.M.H. Rizvi urged authorities to extend the renewal deadline from March 31 to April 30, 2025. He noted that such an extension would prevent any inconvenience for business owners who might struggle to meet the existing cutoff due to the holiday period.
KCCI highlighted that a significant portion of its members typically renew their memberships in the last few days of March. However, with Eid ul Fitr holidays set to begin on March 29, many business entities could face logistical hurdles that may prevent them from completing the renewal process on time. This situation, KCCI stressed, could create operational difficulties for both businesses and regulatory authorities.
The Chamber further elaborated that granting an extension would provide essential relief to the business community, ensuring that members can smoothly complete their renewal applications. It also emphasized that a deadline extension would help maintain compliance rates and ensure that businesses remain operational without administrative obstacles.
In its request, KCCI reiterated its commitment to supporting its members and facilitating a seamless renewal process. The Chamber assured that it remains dedicated to advocating for the best interests of the business sector, emphasizing that timely action on this request would prevent unnecessary disruptions and reinforce confidence in the regulatory framework.
Given the circumstances, KCCI strongly urges the regulatory authority to act swiftly and positively on this matter. Ensuring a smooth transition during the renewal period will support the broader economic landscape, allowing businesses to continue their operations effectively without facing undue administrative stress.
