The repeated cancellations reportedly reignited tensions between the former friends as a new biography explores Kardashian’s rise to fame and Hilton’s early influence on her career.

Kim Kardashian was reportedly furious after Paris Hilton cancelled an interview 17 times for a new biography about the reality television star, potentially reviving old tensions between the two women.

Writer Jonathan Van Meter spent five years working on Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, a biography written with Kardashian’s approval and scheduled for release on 27 October.

As part of his research, Van Meter hoped to interview Hilton about Kardashian and her journey to becoming a global celebrity. However, according to the writer, the interview never materialised, with Hilton repeatedly cancelling their meetings over four months.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Van Meter said Kardashian was very angry when he informed her about the situation. He also felt that the failed interview brought some unresolved issues between the former friends back to the surface.

Kardashian and Hilton have known each other since childhood. In the early 2000s, Hilton hired Kardashian as her assistant, giving her an early introduction to the celebrity world.

During the 2021 reunion of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kardashian reflected on their friendship, acknowledging that they had stopped speaking for a period as her own fame grew.

However, she also expressed gratitude for Hilton’s support, saying she would never forget the opportunities Hilton had given her at the beginning of her career.

Despite their past difficulties, Kardashian said she continued to respect Hilton, recognising the role she played in helping launch her public profile.
