KSE-100 ends week 0.23% higher as investors remain cautious

Pakistan’s benchmark KSE-100 Index closed at 175,329 in a range-bound session, while OGDC shares gained attention after the company reported a sharp rise in FY26 earnings and announced a record dividend.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained range-bound during the final trading session of the week as investors largely stayed on the sidelines amid subdued market activity.

The KSE-100 Index closed at 175,329, up 0.23%, after moving within a narrow range during the session. The benchmark recorded an intraday high of 0.28% and a low of 0.24%, reflecting limited directional momentum and cautious investor participation.

Market activity was led by selected banking and energy stocks. MEBL, BAHL, MARI, PPL and OGDC were the leading positive contributors, collectively adding around 250 points to the index.

On the other hand, UBL, ATRL, PSEL, CNERGY and FFC remained among the major drags, collectively weighing down the KSE-100 by approximately 212 points.

OGDC earnings jump nearly threefold

Investor attention was also focused on Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) after the company reported strong fourth-quarter financial results.

OGDC posted 4QFY26 earnings of Rs29.55 per share, representing an increase of nearly three times year-on-year. The improvement was supported by higher revenues and a Rs44 billion reversal of super tax.

For the full financial year, OGDC’s earnings per share rose 43% year-on-year to Rs56.35. The company also announced a record FY26 dividend of Rs17 per share.

Improved recovery of outstanding receivables is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to maintain future shareholder payouts. Based on the current valuation outlook, the stock is trading at estimated FY27E and FY28F price-to-earnings ratios of 6.1x and 5.2x, respectively. The brokerage view remains positive, with a BUY stance maintained on OGDC.

Market turnover remains strong

Despite the lack of strong index movement, trading activity remained relatively high. Total market volume reached 872 million shares, while the overall traded value stood at approximately PKR32 billion.

In terms of traded value, OGDC led the market with PKR2.82 billion, followed by CNERGY at PKR2.06 billion and PPL at PKR2 billion. ATRL recorded turnover of PKR1.4 billion, while MLCF accounted for around PKR1 billion.

The session highlighted continued investor caution, with market participants closely monitoring corporate earnings, valuations and broader economic developments for fresh trading direction.
