KSE-100 index gains 146 points in mixed trading session

KARACHI: The benchmark KSE-100 index of Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) gained 146 points on Thursday in mixed trading session during the day.

The index ended at 42,091 points from previous day’s closing of 41,945 points, showing a gain of 146 points.

Analysts at Arif Habib Limited said that a positive session was witnessed at the PSX today continuing the favorable momentum from the previous close.

Despite opening in the red territory the market bounced back and made an intraday high of 288.87 points as investors opted for value hunting in the main board.

Healthy volumes were recorded across the board, on the contrary 3rd tier stocks remained volume leaders.

Sectors contributing to the performance include Technology & Communication (+67.9 points), E&P’s (+26.4 points), Commercial Banks (17.7 points), Cement (+14.4 points) and Pharmaceuticals (+8.7 points).

Volumes increased from 230.5 million shares to 325.7 million shares (+41.3 per cent DoD). The average traded value also increased by 15.1 per cent to USD 32.5 million as against USD 28.2 million.
