KSE-100 index gains 82 points amid lack luster sentiments

KARACHI: Benchmark KSE-100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) gained 82 points amid lack luster sentiments.

The index ended at 40,082.37 points from previous day’s closing of 40,000.37 points, showing an increase of 82 points.

Analysts at Arif Habib Limited said that the PSX recorded a positive trading session today.

Beginning in the green zone, the market traded within the same range throughout the session and reached an intraday high of 203.47 points.

Investors remained cautious in light of ongoing political and economic uncertainty, resulting in low involvement and dry volumes in the mainboard. Meanwhile, third-tier stocks continued to dominate the volume board.

Sectors contributing to the performance include Commercial Banks (+30.7 points), fertilizers (+24.5 points), Food & Personal Care Products (+21.2 points), Tobacco (+15.5 points), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+13.8 points).

Volumes increased from 64.5 million shares to 87.2 million shares (+35.2 per cent DoD). The average traded value also increased by +31.8 per cent to USD 11.6 million as against USD 8.8 million.

Stocks that contributed significantly to the volumes are TELE, WTL, KEL, HBL, and DGKC.
