The singer apologised to fans after illness forced her to cancel her Auckland performance on the West End Girl tour, confirming that all tickets would be refunded.

British singer Lily Allen has cancelled her scheduled concert in Auckland, New Zealand, after coming down with a viral infection.

The 41-year-old performer shared the disappointing news on Tuesday night, which was Wednesday morning in New Zealand, confirming that she would be unable to take the stage at Spark Arena.

In an emotional Instagram message, Allen apologised to fans who had been looking forward to the show.

“To my West End Girls in Auckland, I am so sorry to have to tell you that I have come down with a viral infection and am unable to perform tonight,” she wrote.

The singer added that she was “absolutely gutted” to disappoint her audience, particularly those who had travelled long distances to attend the concert.

Allen confirmed that all tickets would be refunded and expressed hope that she could return to Auckland in the future.

“Thank you so much for understanding. Love, Lily x,” she concluded.

The cancellation comes as Allen continues the New Zealand and Australian leg of her global West End Girl tour, which follows the release of her latest album of the same name.

Earlier this year, the singer sold out a series of theatre performances within minutes. The subsequent tour has become the biggest headline tour of her career, with Allen performing the entire album during her shows.

The record draws heavily on her personal experiences, including the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

Fans will now await further updates regarding the singer’s recovery and any potential return to New Zealand.
