Margot Robbie, Tim Burton Team Up for Sci-Fi Remake

Entertainment World

Margot Robbie is reportedly in early negotiations to star in and produce a new remake of the cult classic Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman, directed by Tim Burton for Warner Bros.

This project marks another high-profile collaboration between Robbie and the studio following the massive success of Barbie.

If the deal goes through, Robbie will produce the film through her LuckyChap Entertainment banner, alongside producing partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara. The upcoming sci-fi horror reboot is a modern take on the 1958 original, which told the story of a wealthy heiress who grows to enormous size after an alien encounter—and unleashes her fury on her unfaithful husband.

Fresh off the success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Tim Burton is attached to both direct and produce the remake. He will join producers Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper, with Kai Dolbashian serving as executive producer.

Although Gillian Flynn penned the first draft of the screenplay, she has stepped away from the project due to scheduling conflicts. The production team is currently seeking a new writer to rework the script. Robbie’s full commitment is expected to depend on the revised version.

Warner Bros. is reportedly enthusiastic about reuniting with both Burton and LuckyChap, especially after Barbie became the studio’s highest-grossing film of all time, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice pulled in over $452 million globally.

The Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman remake adds to a growing list of exciting projects for Robbie. She is set to star in Wuthering Heights, directed by Emerald Fennell, and LuckyChap is also developing a new Ocean’s Eleven prequel.

This sci-fi reboot signals another bold genre move for Warner Bros. and reaffirms Margot Robbie’s position as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars and producers.
