Maxwell’s Unbeaten Blitz Secures Australia’s Stunning T20 Victory

Glenn Maxwell showcased his exceptional skills, steering Australia to a remarkable victory against India in the third T20I in Guwahati. Maxwell’s unbeaten 47-ball hundred proved to be the game-changer in the intense run-chase of 223.

Entering the crease in the final over of the Powerplay, Maxwell assumed the responsibility to accelerate the innings, given Marcus Stoinis’ struggles.

Despite the pressure, Maxwell, who recently claimed the title for the fastest Cricket World Cup hundred, stood resilient at 42 off 22 balls when Stoinis departed.

Facing the challenge of needing 95 runs off seven overs, Maxwell exhibited his brilliance, reaching his half-century with a six off Arshdeep Singh.

The game seemed to tilt in India’s favor as Prasidh Krishna delivered a tight 18th over, leaving Australia with a daunting task of 43 runs off the last two overs.

In a display of nerves of steel, Matthew Wade alleviated the pressure with crucial boundaries off Axar Patel in the penultimate over. However, Australia still required 21 runs off the final over.

Wade initiated the over with a boundary before Maxwell took charge, unleashing a six and a hat-trick of fours against Prasidh, securing a sensational win and notching up a record-breaking ton.

Maxwell’s 47-ball hundred equaled the record set by Aaron Finch and Josh Inglis for the fastest century by an Australian in men’s T20Is. Additionally, he joined Rohit Sharma in the record books with his fourth century in men’s T20Is.

This victory keeps the series alive, setting the stage for an exciting clash on December 1 in Raipur, with two T20Is remaining.
