Meghan Markle Faces Spotify Backlash Over Alleged Behavior

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, has faced criticism from Spotify employees during her stint as the host of the podcast series Archetypes. Reports suggest that Markle was not warmly received at the company, with claims of difficult behavior and limited interaction with staff.

According to UK royal commentator Neil Sean, speaking to Fox News on Thursday, January 23, Markle avoided engaging with most employees and interacted only with select top-ranking officials. This aloof approach reportedly led Spotify employees to nickname her “Eva Philips,” a reference to Joan Crawford’s character in the 1955 film Queen Bee. The nickname, Sean revealed, was used as a covert warning to indicate her mood or presence in the workplace.

Sean elaborated, saying the nickname wasn’t a term of endearment but an insult born out of frustration. “The character of Eva in Queen Bee was infamous for causing turmoil and stinging her victims, which is how staff felt working alongside Markle,” he claimed. Employees who worked on Markle’s podcast allegedly found her behavior challenging, citing mood swings and a domineering attitude.

The duchess was reportedly perceived as “tough and bossy,” preferring to engage only with high-ranking officials. When those individuals were unavailable, staff members were allegedly reminded of her royal status. “She ensured people knew they were dealing with a duchess and a member of the British royal family,” Sean alleged.

Initially, Markle’s presence captivated staff, with many intrigued by her royal persona. However, this initial fascination reportedly faded as employees grew disillusioned with what they described as her “demanding” and dismissive demeanor. Sean suggested that Markle appeared to have forgotten her past struggles as an actress, adding to the dissatisfaction among employees.

The backlash comes in the wake of Archetypes failing to meet expectations, marking a rare misstep for Markle as she transitions from her royal duties to a public figure and media producer. This controversy underscores the challenges of adapting to a corporate culture while maintaining a high-profile public image.
