Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Faces Backlash and Uncertainty

Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix show has been generating significant buzz since early this year, and the media frenzy has only intensified following its official release on March 4th.

The Duchess of Sussex, who has also ventured into the business world by launching her lifestyle brand, As Ever, alongside the show, now finds herself in a challenging position as Netflix executives grapple with the impact of mixed reviews and audience reactions.

A source from Netflix has revealed that the streaming giant is increasingly “worried” about its ongoing collaboration with Meghan Markle, given the current climate of critical feedback. Despite the anticipation surrounding her project, the show has not achieved the runaway success many had expected.

“It’s not a runaway success,” an insider disclosed to MailOnline. They further explained that With Love, Meghan was filmed in quick succession, leading to an almost immediate announcement of a second season. However, this approach has left room for adjustments based on public and critical reception.

“I know they filmed the shows back-to-back, so technically, there is no second season in the traditional sense. It’s like many Netflix productions where everything is filmed at once,” the insider elaborated. “This strategy allows Netflix to make edits based on feedback from the press and viewers. It’s a clever, cost-effective approach. However, the overall contract with Meghan Markle has not been renewed yet.”

Adding to the uncertainty, Meghan Markle disclosed last month that Netflix had not only financed the show but had also become a business partner in her lifestyle brand, As Ever. While the brand’s website is live and its products are displayed, no official launch date has been confirmed apart from a vague reference to ‘Spring 2025.’

“Netflix executives are feeling the pressure now because they have invested heavily in Meghan Markle’s brand and show. They are unsure about the best strategy for rolling everything out,” the source noted.

With scrutiny mounting over the streaming giant’s partnership with Meghan Markle, the future of her Netflix endeavors remains uncertain. Whether With Love, Meghan and As Ever can overcome this turbulent start will depend on how well Netflix navigates the current wave of criticism and adapts to audience expectations.
