Ministry debunks petroleum prices circulating on social media

The finance ministry on Sunday debunked a circulating social media notification claiming an increase in petroleum prices as ‘fake.’

An official from the finance ministry confirmed that the current petroleum prices have not been altered.

In a recent decision, the government has opted to maintain the current prices of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) for the next 15 days to provide relief to lower-income citizens in the country.

As per the March 31 statement, these prices will be effective from April 1, 2023, until April 15, 2023. Diesel will continue to be sold at the current rate of Rs 293.00 per litre, while petrol will be available at Rs 272.00 per litre.

However, the government has extended its relief by reducing the purchase price of kerosene oil and light diesel oil by Rs 10.

The new prices for kerosene oil and light diesel oil are Rs 180.29 per litre and Rs 174.68 per litre, respectively.
