Monsoon rain expected to reach Karachi this week

Rain probability rises from Monday as monsoon system is expected to bring showers and cooler conditions to Karachi.

KARACHI: Monsoon rain is expected to reach Karachi this week, bringing the prospect of relief from the city’s prevailing hot and humid conditions, according to the latest weather forecast.

Forecasts indicate that Karachi will remain largely dry on Sunday, July 12, with sunny intervals and strong winds gradually easing during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 32°C, while the minimum is likely to remain around 28°C. There is only a minimal chance of rainfall on Sunday.

The likelihood of rain is expected to increase on Monday, July 13, as the monsoon system begins to influence the city. Weather forecasts suggest hazy sunshine, breezy conditions and the possibility of afternoon showers, with temperatures ranging between 28°C and 33°C. Humidity is expected to remain high despite the increase in cloud cover.

Rain chances are forecast to remain elevated on Tuesday, July 14, with the city expected to experience scattered showers, particularly during the afternoon. Wind speeds are also likely to increase as the monsoon system strengthens over the region. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 28°C and 33°C, with around an hour of rainfall possible during the day.

Weather experts note that monsoon conditions can change rapidly, and rainfall intensity may vary across different parts of Karachi. Residents are advised to stay informed through updated forecasts, particularly if travelling during periods of expected rainfall.

Authorities also urge motorists to exercise caution, as even brief spells of moderate to heavy rain can lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, slower traffic movement and temporary disruptions across parts of the city during the monsoon season.
