Dealers say delays in issuing original number plates and registration files are creating difficulties for motorcycle buyers across Sindh.
Motorcycle dealers have urged the relevant authorities to speed up the issuance of original number plates for registered motorcycles, saying prolonged delays are causing frustration among customers and affecting routine vehicle registration processes.
According to dealers, buyers have been repeatedly visiting showrooms and contacting dealerships to ask about the status of their original motorcycle number plates.
They say customers expect timely delivery after completing the registration process, but many are still waiting for plates despite having fulfilled all required formalities.
The issue is not limited to newly registered motorcycles. Dealers have also pointed out that several registration files submitted before the AA series remain pending and have yet to be released.
They believe these older cases should be cleared alongside the newer registrations to reduce the growing backlog.
In addition, dealers have raised concerns over delays in processing vehicle ownership transfer cases. They say transfer-related registration files are taking much longer than expected, creating inconvenience for both buyers and sellers while slowing down vehicle transactions in the market.
Automotive analyst Sabir Shaikh, quoting the Motor Registration Authority, Government of Sindh, told PkRevenue that motorcycle dealers have formally requested the release of original number plates for all registered motorcycles.
He said dealerships continue to receive frequent complaints and inquiries from customers regarding the prolonged waiting period.
Dealers argue that the delay is impacting customer satisfaction, as many motorcycle owners are unable to receive their official registration plates despite completing the required documentation.
They have requested the authorities to expedite the issuance process and clear all pending registration files without further delay.
Industry stakeholders also emphasized the importance of resolving the backlog of pre-AA series registrations and ownership transfer cases, stating that timely processing would improve public confidence in the vehicle registration system and reduce unnecessary inconvenience for motorcycle owners.
Motorcycle dealers hope the pending number plates and registration files will be released soon, allowing customers to receive their official documents on time and ensuring a smoother registration process for future motorcycle buyers.
