Anti-graft body alleges illegal occupation and fraudulent purchase of government land linked to Bahria Town Karachi
The National Accountability Bureau Karachi has frozen a luxury mansion allegedly linked to property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain along with thousands of acres of land associated with Bahria Town Karachi in connection with alleged illegal occupation and purchase of government land.
According to NAB Karachi officials, the bureau has frozen a luxury property known as βAli Villa,β which was allegedly constructed for the personal residential use of Malik Riaz Hussain in the name of his son Ali Riaz Malik at Bahria Hills within Bahria Town Karachi.
Luxury mansion spread over 67 acres
NAB stated that the property spans approximately 67 acres and includes several high-end facilities, including a helipad, mini zoo, and swimming pools.
The anti-corruption watchdog said the freezing order was issued as part of ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities involving large-scale land acquisition and development.
Thousands of acres of land frozen
In addition to the mansion, NAB Karachi said it has frozen 1,338 acres of land allegedly occupied by Bahria Town Karachi.
According to the bureau, projects including Bahria Greens and precincts 33, 34, 38, 39, 40, 42, and 61 were planned on the disputed land, which NAB claims belongs to the Government of Sindh.
Separately, NAB also froze 3,150 acres of land linked to Bahria Town 2, alleging that the land was fraudulently purchased by M/s Paradise Real Estate (Pvt) Limited through a separate order issued by the Director General NAB Karachi.
Authorities barred from allowing third-party rights
The bureau said relevant authorities have been instructed to prevent Bahria Town Karachi or related entities from creating any third-party rights over the frozen properties and land.
The move is aimed at ensuring that the disputed assets cannot be transferred, sold, or altered while investigations and legal proceedings continue.
Reference filed over alleged Rs708 billion land scam
NAB officials revealed that the bureau has already filed Reference No. 1/2025 before an accountability court in Karachi.
The reference pertains to allegations of illegal conversion and misappropriation of approximately 17,672 acres of government land in Malir district, allegedly carried out in collusion with officials of the Government of Sindh.
According to NAB, the disputed land is valued at around Rs708 billion.
Allegations linked to Bahria Town Karachi development
The bureau further alleged that Bahria Town Karachi was developed adjacent to the M-9 Motorway in violation of legal requirements and land regulations.
The case is considered one of the largest land-related investigations currently being pursued by NAB Karachi and is expected to have significant legal and commercial implications for the real estate sector.
