National Bank declares Rs31 billion as net profit for CY22

KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has declared net profit of Rs31 billion for calendar year 2022.

The bank posted an annual growth of 7.79 per cent in profit after tax when compared with Rs28.76 billion in the preceding year.

NBP declared earnings per share (EPS) at Rs14.49 for the year 2022 as compared with EPS of Rs13.44 in the year 2021, according to consolidated profit and loss accounts for the year ended December 31, 2022.

Board of directors of NBP in its meeting held on February 28, 2022 has not recommended any cash dividend, bonus issue/right shares or any other entitlement.

Net mark-up/interest income posted a healthy growth of Rs 117 billion for the year ended December 31, 2022 when compared with Rs 97.77 billion in the preceding year.

Non-markup / interest income of the bank increased to Rs 39.27 billion for the year under review as compared with Rs 38.87 billion in the preceding year. Under this segment, the foreign exchange income of the bank surged to Rs 8.28 billion for the year 2022 when compared with Rs 6.85 billion in the last year.

Total income of the bank came at Rs 156.37 billion for the year ended December 31, 2022 when compared with Rs136.34 billion in the preceding year.

Operating expenses of the bank also grew to Rs 79.59 billion for the year under review when compared with Rs 61.06 billion in the preceding year.

Provisions and write offs – net grew to Rs 13.11 billion in the calendar year 2022 when compared with Rs 11.66 billion in the preceding year.

The payment of tax grew sharply to Rs 32.65 billion in the calendar year 2022 when compared with Rs25.04 billion in the preceding year.
