KARACHI: Hamad Nazir Kehar has been elected as President of PSX Stockbrokers Association for the Year 2020-2021, a statement said on Wednesday.

Muhammad Munir Khanani has been elected as Vice-President. Muhammad Adil Ghaffar has been elected as General Secretary, Fawad Yousuf as Joint Secretary and Kazim Sultan Dattoo has been elected for the post of treasurer.

Election commissioner Usman Salim Kasmani, announced for Managing Committee members and Amin Yousuf Balgamwala, Abdus Samad Salim, Ghulam Mujtaba Sakarwala, Muhammad Zahid Ali Habib and Noman Abdul Majeed Adam is elected for Managing Committee.

The elected office-bearers will be responsible for representing the interests of stockbrokers and addressing matters affecting the capital market. The association is expected to maintain communication with the Pakistan Stock Exchange, regulators and other stakeholders on issues concerning market operations, investor confidence and the brokerage community.

The managing committee will also play a role in raising industry concerns and supporting measures aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and participation in the market. The leadership for the 2020-2021 term comes at a time when market participants continue to focus on strengthening trading infrastructure and developing a environment for investors. The association’s engagement with authorities can help facilitate dialogue on regulatory matters, operational challenges and initiatives intended to promote the development of Pakistan’s markets.
