The Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) has requested the adjustment for consumers served by former WAPDA distribution companies (XWDISCOs), according to a NEPRA notice.

The proposed increase is calculated against the reference fuel charges of Rs7.4596 per unit approved by the authority. The actual fuel charges for September were reported at Rs10.0220 per unit for electricity delivered to distribution companies.

The adjustment remains subject to NEPRA’s review and approval following the hearing.

K-Electric consumers also affected

Under the federal government’s policy guidelines for applying uniform fuel charges adjustments, the FCA determined for XWDISCOs will also apply to consumers of K-Electric.

The CPPA-G data submitted to NEPRA showed that total electricity generation during September reached 13,217 gigawatt-hours (GWh), while net electricity delivered to distribution companies stood at 12,760 GWh.

Imported coal, regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG), gas and other sources contributed to the overall generation cost. The request also incorporates previous adjustments and an RLNG fuel-rate adjustment.

Public hearing scheduled for October 29

NEPRA has scheduled the hearing for Thursday, October 29, at 2pm at NEPRA Tower in Islamabad, with online participation also available.

Interested and affected parties may submit written or oral objections in accordance with the law. Details of the request and relevant regulatory documents are available on NEPRA’s official website.

The authority will consider the submissions before deciding whether to approve the requested adjustment. The proposed increase is not yet a final notified tariff decision.
