Nvidia has officially unveiled its latest entry-level GPUs, the GeForce RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti, expanding its 50-series lineup.
These new graphics cards, aimed at mainstream gamers and creators, bring improved performance through the Blackwell architecture and TSMC’s advanced 4N process node.
RTX 5060 Ti: Performance-Oriented Option
The RTX 5060 Ti is the more powerful of the two and is built on the GB206 GPU die. It boasts 4608 CUDA cores, a 2.57GHz boost clock, and a 2.41GHz base clock. Users can choose between two *GDDR7 VRAM configurations—16GB and 8GB—*both operating at 28Gbps on a 128-bit memory bus. The card has a 180W TDP, matching both memory variants.
Designed with serious gamers in mind, the RTX 5060 Ti includes 5th-gen Tensor cores and 4th-gen RT cores for real-time ray tracing and AI-driven performance enhancements. It also supports DLSS 4, including frame generation and the upcoming Reflex 2 technology, offering smoother gameplay in supported titles.
RTX 5060: Budget-Friendly Gaming GPU
The more affordable RTX 5060 also uses the GB206 GPU die but scales down to 3840 CUDA cores. Clock speeds remain solid, with a 2.5GHz boost and 2.28GHz base clock. It comes with a single 8GB GDDR7 configuration—considered underwhelming in 2025’s gaming landscape. With a 145W TDP, it draws more power than the previous-gen RTX 4060, which could limit compatibility with ultra-compact PC builds.
Both cards utilize the PCIe 5.0 interface, although they are limited to 8x lanes, and feature Nvidia’s latest NVENC encoder and NVDEC decoder with support for 4:2:2 video encoding and decoding.
Performance and Availability
While Nvidia highlights performance metrics leveraging DLSS and frame generation technologies, a direct comparison reveals a 20-25% uplift in raw performance over the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti, a more notable gain than seen in previous generational jumps.
Pricing and Release Dates
The RTX 5060 Ti is priced at $429 for the 16GB model and $379 for the 8GB model, with availability starting April 16. The RTX 5060 will be released in May, starting at $299. These are pre-tariff U.S. prices, and actual pricing may vary. Notably, no Founders Edition versions are being released, but major OEM partners will offer variants.
Additionally, Nvidia has introduced RTX 5060 laptop GPUs, expected to ship with new laptops in May 2025.
