OGDCL starts oil and gas production from Bettani-2 Well

Karachi, January 31, 2025 – Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has officially commenced oil and gas production from the Bettani-2 appraisal well, located in District Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This milestone marks a significant advancement in OGDCL’s ongoing exploration and production efforts.

In a statement submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL referenced an earlier disclosure dated December 13, 2024, regarding the gas condensate discovery in the Samanasuk formation at the Bettani-2 well. As the operator of the Wali Exploration License with a 100% working interest, OGDCL has now successfully initiated production from this vital energy asset.

Following completion and stimulation in the Kawagarh formation, the Bettani-2 well is currently yielding 8.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 610 barrels per day (BPD) of oil. The extracted gas is being processed at OGDCL’s Bettani processing plant and subsequently injected into the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) network for national distribution.

This latest development underscores OGDCL’s unwavering commitment to innovative exploration and production, reinforcing its dominant position in Pakistan’s energy sector. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and strategic investments, OGDCL continues to enhance its production capabilities to meet the country’s growing energy demands.

Beyond its immediate economic impact, the Bettani-2 well project aligns with OGDCL’s broader mission to achieve sustainable development and operational excellence. The company remains dedicated to bolstering Pakistan’s energy security, reducing reliance on imports, and driving long-term economic growth.

As OGDCL expands its footprint in the oil and gas sector, it remains committed to efficient resource management and maximizing hydrocarbon potential. The success of the Bettani-2 well further cements OGDCL’s role as a key player in ensuring energy sustainability and self-sufficiency for Pakistan.
