The match lived up to its billing, with both teams delivering moments of brilliance, but it was Pakistan’s all-round performance that secured them the win.
Batting first, Pakistan set a formidable target of 282 runs, thanks to a spectacular innings by Shahzaib Khan. The opener was in sublime form, hammering an extraordinary 159 runs off just 147 balls. His innings, a blend of aggression and composure, was the backbone of Pakistan’s total. Shahzaib’s brilliant knock featured a flurry of boundaries and sixes, keeping the Indian bowlers on the back foot throughout.
Shahzaib was well-supported by Usman Khan, who contributed a solid 60 runs. Samarth Nagaraj and Ayush Mhatre stood out among the Indian bowlers, claiming three and two wickets, respectively. Chasing 282 runs, India’s batting lineup faced an uphill task against a disciplined Pakistani bowling attack. Nikkhil Kumar was the standout performer for India, scoring a valiant 67 runs. He found some support from Mohammad Enaan, who chipped in with 30 runs, but the rest of the batting order failed to build significant partnerships.
Pakistan’s bowlers executed their plans effectively, with Ali Raza leading the charge by taking three crucial wickets. Abdul Subhan and Faham-ul-Haq also made significant contributions, picking up two wickets each. India was eventually bowled out for 238 runs in 47.1 overs, falling short by 43 runs.
