Pakistan Allocates Rs 3.1bn for Sports Infrastructure Development

PkRevenue.com – The Federal Government has given the green light to a significant investment aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s sports infrastructure, prioritizing projects crucial for the upcoming South Asian Games and the development of the Pakistan Sports Complex (PSC), along with other facilities nationwide.

As per the latest budgetary report unveiled, a total sum of Rs 3.1 billion has been allotted under the Public Service Development Programme (PSDP) for the Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Division for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Out of this allocation, Rs 2,433 million has been directed towards ongoing initiatives, while Rs 667 million has been allocated for fresh endeavors in the PSDP for 2024-25.

Prominent among the ongoing endeavors is the provision for electronic displays and scoring systems installation at diverse sports facilities within the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, and PSB Coaching Centers, drawing a budgetary allocation of Rs 735.394 million.

Furthermore, essential facilities catering to the South Asian Games, including a warm-up track, residential accommodations for coaches, and the refurbishment of multipurpose halls, have been earmarked Rs 388.429 million.

The revitalization and modernization of existing facilities at PSC, Islamabad, to prepare for the South Asian Games, have received a budgetary allocation of Rs 312.083 million. Additionally, Rs 304.893 million has been set aside for laying synthetic athletic tracks, installing sprinkler systems, and implementing floodlights at PSB Coaching Centre, Karachi.

In addition to the ongoing projects, novel schemes constitute a significant portion of the allocation. These include hosting the National Games, with a budget of Rs 317 million, and the construction of a swimming pool at PSB Coaching Centre, Karachi, with an allocation of Rs 200 million.

Moreover, Rs 150 million has been designated for the rehabilitation and upgrading of existing facilities at PSB Coaching Centre, Quetta.

This significant allocation underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to augmenting sports infrastructure nationwide, fostering healthy lifestyles, and nurturing athletic excellence. Such endeavors not only elevate the sporting landscape but also contribute to the holistic development and well-being of the populace.
