Lahore, April 30, 2025 — Cricket fever is set to grip Pakistan once again as the national team prepares to host Bangladesh in an electrifying five-match T20 International series, beginning May 25.
The high-stakes series, part of the ICC Future Tour Programme (FTP), was originally scheduled to feature three ODIs and three T20Is. However, in a strategic shift ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, both Pakistan and Bangladesh have mutually agreed to scrap the ODIs and replace them with two additional T20Is, intensifying the short-format showdown.
The series will kick off at Faisalabad’s historic Iqbal Stadium, marking the return of international cricket to the venue after a 17-year hiatus. The stadium last witnessed a Pakistan vs. Bangladesh ODI in April 2008 and has since undergone major renovations. It will now host the first two T20Is on May 25 and 27. Known for its enthusiastic crowds and deep cricketing roots, Faisalabad is gearing up for a festive cricketing revival.
Bangladesh, eager to fine-tune their T20 setup ahead of global tournaments, will arrive in Pakistan on May 21 and hold training sessions from May 22 to May 24 at the Iqbal Stadium. This visit will be closely watched, as both teams look to test their depth, combinations, and match temperament in subcontinental conditions.
After the Faisalabad leg, the action will shift to Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium, where the final three T20Is will be played on May 30, June 1, and June 3, all under the lights with an 8 PM start time. The Gaddafi Stadium, a fortress for Pakistan cricket, promises a vibrant atmosphere and top-notch competition between two passionate South Asian sides.
For Pakistan, this series is not just about preparation, but also about dominance on home soil. For Bangladesh, it is a chance to prove their mettle against a formidable host. With the stage set in two of Pakistan’s cricketing heartlands, fans can expect fireworks, drama, and unforgettable moments in this eagerly awaited Pakistan-Bangladesh T20I series.
