Pakistan Announces Eid ul Azha Holidays, Celebrations on June 29

In a recent announcement, Pakistan has declared public holidays for Eid ul Azha, which is scheduled to be celebrated on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

The Cabinet Division issued a statement detailing the holiday schedule, providing relief to the working class.

According to the statement, offices adhering to a five-day workweek will remain closed on June 29 and 30, 2023 (Thursday and Friday). However, offices that observe a six-day workweek will enjoy an extended break from June 29 to July 1, 2023 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).

This decision follows the confirmation of the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, signifying the official celebration of Eid ul Azha across Pakistan on June 29 (Thursday). The committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, convened and received testimonies of moon sightings from various cities, including Karachi and Lahore.

The committee’s meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, the Department of Meteorology, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Input from zonal committees of Ruet-e-Hilal, which had convened in their respective cities, was also considered before making the decision.

This announcement brings much joy and anticipation to the Pakistani populace as they prepare to observe Eid ul Azha, a significant religious festival in the Islamic calendar. The holidays will provide an opportunity for families and communities to come together, celebrate, and partake in the traditional rituals associated with the occasion.

As the country eagerly awaits the arrival of Eid ul Azha, preparations are underway to ensure a joyous and memorable celebration.
