Arafat Minhas delivers a match-winning all-round performance with 59 runs and six wickets as Pakistan secure their second consecutive victory in the 2026 ODI tri-series.
Pakistan defeated England by 87 runs in the second match of the ODI Tri-Series 2026 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, October 20, as Arafat Minhas produced a remarkable all-round performance to earn Player of the Match honours.
Minhas scored a crucial 59 off 58 balls before claiming six wickets for 40 runs in 8.4 overs, playing a decisive role in Pakistan’s victory. He also contributed to England’s collapse with a run-out.
Batting first, Pakistan recovered from an early setback at 81 for four to post a competitive total of 302. Hasan Nawaz helped stabilise the innings, while Faheem Ashraf’s late cameo provided the impetus needed to push the total beyond 300.
England initially responded positively, with Ben Duckett and Tom Banton building a 91-run partnership. However, Duckett’s dismissal in the 40s and Banton’s departure after reaching his half-century triggered a collapse.
Joe Root and Sam Curran failed to convert their starts into substantial scores, leaving Will Jacks and the lower order facing an increasingly difficult task. Minhas then dismantled England’s batting line-up, while Haris Rauf claimed two important wickets and Naseem Shah delivered an effective second spell.
England’s bowlers had earlier reduced Pakistan to 81 for four but failed to prevent the middle order from rebuilding the innings, allowing the hosts to post a total that proved beyond their reach.
The victory gives Pakistan two wins from two matches, following their earlier success against Sri Lanka, and strengthens their position in the three-team competition.
England will face Sri Lanka in the third match on Thursday, October 22, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The result will be crucial for both sides as they seek to remain in contention for a place in the final.
