Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz discuss industrial cooperation, agriculture and investment opportunities.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb held talks with Belarusian Minister of Energy Denis Moroz on Wednesday to explore ways to strengthen bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus.
Denis Moroz called on the Finance Minister along with a high-level delegation, with discussions focusing on expanding economic relations and translating bilateral engagement into concrete commercial outcomes.
Pakistan seeks broader economic engagement
Aurangzeb welcomed the Belarusian delegation and highlighted the longstanding engagement between the two countries. He stressed the importance of expanding commercial ties and investment flows to support the growing scope of economic cooperation.
The Finance Minister emphasised the need for continued engagement and broader consultations between the two countries to facilitate deeper economic cooperation.
The two sides reviewed a broad range of areas for collaboration, including industrial cooperation, agriculture, education and culture, along with other sectors of mutual interest.
The Belarusian delegation briefed the Pakistani side on ongoing efforts to advance cooperation across these areas.
Aurangzeb reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Belarusian counterparts to turn ongoing engagement into tangible results and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Belarus confident of stronger trade ties
Denis Moroz appreciated the Finance Minister’s support and expressed confidence that continued coordination between relevant institutions in Pakistan and Belarus would help facilitate bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, along with members of the Belarusian delegation, including Belarusian Ambassador to Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa, First Deputy Minister of Industry Viktor Shchetko, Director of Department at Belarus’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Prokopchuk, and Viktor Nikitin of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
Senior officials from Pakistan’s Finance Division also attended the meeting.
The discussions come as Islamabad and Minsk seek to broaden economic engagement beyond traditional areas and create stronger institutional links to support bilateral commerce and investment.
