Pakistan gold prices fall sharply as international bullion markets remain under pressure from global uncertainty.
KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan recorded a sharp weekly decline of Rs15,000 per tola during the week ended August 29, 2026, amid continued uncertainty in international bullion markets.
According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJSA), the price of 24-karat gold fell to Rs467,936 per tola on August 29, compared with Rs482,936 a week earlier.
The precious metal therefore registered a weekly decline of Rs15,000 per tola in the domestic market.
Gold price falls Rs12,860 per 10 grams
The price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams also declined during the week.
According to the association, the rate fell by Rs12,860 to Rs406,179, compared with Rs419,039 recorded on August 22.
The substantial decline in domestic gold prices followed a sharp correction in international bullion markets, which exerted downward pressure on local rates.
Global uncertainty weighs on gold
Bullion market participants attributed the fall in Pakistan gold prices to continued uncertainty in international markets, particularly concerns surrounding geopolitical tensions and rising global inflation expectations.
International gold prices declined by $150 per ounce during the week, falling to $4,454 per ounce on August 29 from $4,604 on August 22.
The decline in global bullion prices was reflected in Pakistan’s domestic market, contributing to the substantial weekly fall in gold rates.
Market outlook
Market participants are expected to closely monitor geopolitical developments, global inflation trends and movements in international bullion prices for further direction in domestic gold rates.
The continued volatility in international bullion markets is likely to remain a key factor influencing gold prices in Pakistan in the coming sessions.
