Pakistan imposes ban on export of surgical masks, sanitizers

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has imposed ban on export of surgical masks and hand sanitizers owing to mass spread of coronavirus.

The commerce ministry on Tuesday issued SRO 239(I)/2020 to impose ban on export of surgical masks, hand sanitizers and other medical equipment.

The ministry amended the Export Policy Order 2016 to impose the ban.

Through the SRO the ban has been imposed on items, included: Tyvek Suits; disposable gowns, disposable gloves, face shields, surgical masks, N95 masks, biohazard bags, goggles, shoe cover and hand sanitizers.

The ministry said that the bank would lapse on the completion of the process of assessment of the baseline requirements of the country and stockpiling to be notified by the government.
