Revised conveyance allowance rates for BPS 1-22 employees take effect from July 1, 2026, offering higher monthly transport support.
The federal government has approved a 50 percent increase in conveyance allowance for civil servants working in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 1 to 22 with effect from July 1, 2026.
The decision is aimed at providing relief to government employees amid rising transportation and commuting costs across the country.
According to an official notification, the revised conveyance allowance will be admissible to all eligible federal government employees under the existing terms and conditions.
The increase forms part of a broader package of salary and allowance revisions announced for the fiscal year 2026-27.
Under the revised rates, employees serving in BPS-1 to BPS-4 will receive a monthly conveyance allowance of Rs2,678, compared with the previous rate of Rs1,785.
Meanwhile, employees in BPS-5 to BPS-10 will now receive Rs2,898 per month, up from the existing allowance of Rs1,932.
Similarly, civil servants working in BPS-11 to BPS-15 will benefit from an increase in conveyance allowance from Rs2,856 to Rs4,284 per month.
Officers and employees in BPS-16 and above, including those serving up to BPS-22, will receive a revised monthly allowance of Rs7,500 instead of the previous Rs5,000.
The government stated that the enhancement has been approved to help employees manage increasing travel expenses and maintain their purchasing power in the face of inflation.
Transportation costs have risen considerably over the past few years, making conveyance support an important component of employee compensation.
The latest revision is expected to benefit a large number of federal government employees across various ministries, divisions, departments, and attached organizations.
By increasing the allowance by half of the existing amount, the government seeks to ease the financial burden associated with daily commuting to workplaces.
The revised conveyance allowance will be effective from July 1, 2026, and will be paid to eligible civil servants in BPS-1 to BPS-22 according to the updated rates.
The move reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to improve employee welfare and align compensation packages with prevailing economic realities.
