Babar Azam and squad begin training at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium as Pakistan gears up for crucial ICC World Test Championship matches in the Caribbean.

Pakistan have officially commenced preparations for their upcoming West Indies Test series, with the national red-ball squad gathering at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium for a pre-tour training camp on Thursday.

The camp marks the beginning of Pakistan’s build-up to a significant two-match ICC World Test Championship (WTC) series in the Caribbean later this month. Players participated in an extensive three-hour training session aimed at sharpening their skills and improving overall match readiness ahead of the challenging overseas assignment.

The coaching staff supervised the session, with head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed leading the preparations alongside batting coach Asad Shafiq and bowling coach Umar Gul. The trio organized a range of drills focusing on batting, bowling and fielding, ensuring players received comprehensive training before departure.

Test captain Babar Azam was among the leading figures in the camp and spent considerable time in the nets. The squad engaged in intensive practice on the stadium’s training wickets, working on both technical adjustments and match scenarios. The management hopes the camp will help players adapt quickly and enter the series in peak condition.

As part of the preparation schedule, Pakistan will hold a two-day intra-squad scenario match on Friday and Saturday. The practice fixture is designed to simulate competitive match conditions, allowing coaches to evaluate player form, fitness and readiness ahead of the tour. The match will also provide valuable game time for squad members before the team travels to the West Indies.

The upcoming series carries added importance as it forms part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle. Pakistan will be aiming to secure valuable points and improve their standing in the global Test rankings.

Pakistan and West Indies are set to contest two Test matches between July 25 and August 10. The opening Test will take place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, while the second and final match of the series will be played at the historic Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

With preparations now in full swing, Pakistan will be looking to build momentum and deliver strong performances in the Caribbean conditions.
