Pakistan Met Predicts Hailstorm on March 31, 2024

Islamabad, March 30, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting a hailstorm in the upper parts of the country on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions in light of the anticipated weather conditions.

According to the met office, intermittent rain, windstorm, and thunderstorms are expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, northeastern Punjab, and Islamabad on March 31st. Additionally, hailstorms are likely during this period, with heavy falls anticipated at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Dust storms and dust-raising winds are also forecasted for southern parts of the country.

The synoptic situation indicates the influence of a westerly wave affecting western and upper regions of Pakistan, with its impact expected to persist in upper parts until March 31st.

Looking back at the weather for Saturday, March 30, 2024, similar conditions prevailed with intermittent rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms forecasted for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, and north Balochistan. Hailstorms were also predicted during this period, with heavy falls expected at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, and Kashmir. Dust storms and dust-raising winds were likely in southern parts of the country.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded yesterday were in Mithi at 39°C and Shaheed Benazirabad at 38°C.
