Govt raises petrol and HSD prices from August 25

Petrol rises by 39 paisa per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs2.40 as higher international oil benchmarks push up domestic fuel prices.

ISLAMABAD: The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), effective from August 25, 2026, following the latest petroleum price calculations.

The price of petrol has been increased by Rs0.39 per litre, from Rs341.59 to Rs341.98 per litre. The price of HSD has risen by Rs2.40 per litre, from Rs368.29 to Rs370.69 per litre.

The latest revision was primarily driven by higher international petroleum benchmark prices, while the petroleum levy, climate support levy, margins and sales tax remained unchanged.

For petrol, the Platts Arab Gulf Mean Average increased from $106.44 per barrel on August 22 to $106.67 per barrel on August 25.

The Dubai crude oil Platts Arab Gulf Mean Average increased from $91.70 per barrel on August 22 to $93.08 per barrel on August 25.

The resulting cost and freight component rose from $140.59 to $141.97 per barrel.
