Three organisations under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs secured places among Pakistan’s 10 most profitable state-owned enterprises in FY2024–25, according to an official report.
ISLAMABAD, October 23, 2026: Three organisations operating under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs — Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim Authority (PQA) and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) — ranked among Pakistan’s 10 most profitable state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in fiscal year 2024–25.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced the rankings on Friday, citing the Federal State-Owned Enterprises Annual Aggregate Report for FY2024–25, issued by the Central Monitoring Unit of the Finance Division.
According to the report, KPT secured sixth position, PQA ranked seventh, while PNSC placed tenth among the country’s most profitable state-owned entities.
In a statement, the minister attributed the performance to the management and workforce of the three organisations, alongside the Ministry of Maritime Affairs’ oversight.
He said the rankings demonstrated the potential of Pakistan’s maritime institutions to contribute to the national economy through improved financial management, operational efficiency and effective utilisation of resources.
The minister stressed that sustaining these results would require stronger governance, institutional accountability and continued operational improvements.
KPT and PQA oversee major port operations, supporting cargo handling and international trade, while PNSC provides national shipping services and contributes to Pakistan’s maritime connectivity.
Chaudhry said continued improvements in the management and performance of maritime organisations would help strengthen the country’s maritime sector and enhance its contribution to economic activity.
The rankings highlight the role of Pakistan’s ports and national shipping services in supporting trade and the broader economy.
