Latest fuel price revision raises petrol by Rs4.40 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs3.60 per litre amid higher international freight costs.
The federal government has announced an increase in petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan, effective July 24, 2026, following a rise in international freight costs. The latest revision will increase fuel expenses for motorists, transport operators, and businesses that rely heavily on petroleum products.
According to the official notification, the price of petrol (Motor Spirit) has been increased by Rs4.40 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs331.50 per litre from the previous Rs327.10 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been raised by Rs3.60 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs378.70 per litre, compared to the earlier rate of Rs375.10 per litre.
Updated Fuel Prices
Under the latest revision, the new petroleum prices are as follows:
Petrol (Motor Spirit): Rs331.50 per litre (up by Rs4.40)
High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs378.70 per litre (up by Rs3.60)
The increase reflects changes in global petroleum market dynamics, particularly the higher transportation and freight costs associated with importing refined fuel products.
Freight Costs Continue to Climb
One of the major factors behind the latest price adjustment is the increase in international freight charges. The freight cost for petrol climbed to $117.98 per barrel, compared to the previous $115.46 per barrel, representing an increase of approximately 2.18 percent.
Similarly, the freight cost for High-Speed Diesel rose to $152.10 per barrel from $150.00 per barrel, marking an increase of around 1.40 percent.
Higher freight charges directly impact the landed cost of imported petroleum products, which ultimately influences domestic fuel prices.
Impact on Consumers
The latest increase is expected to raise transportation and logistics costs across the country, as petrol is widely used by private vehicles while diesel remains the primary fuel for commercial transport, heavy machinery, and agricultural equipment.
With fuel prices moving higher, consumers may also experience increased costs for goods and services in the coming weeks, as transportation expenses are often passed on through supply chains. The latest revision highlights how fluctuations in international freight rates and global oil market conditions continue to influence petroleum prices in Pakistan.
