Pakistan Refutes Reports of Ban on Rs 5000 Banknote

Islamabad, September 7, 2023 – Pakistan has officially denied recent reports suggesting a ban on the Rs 5000 denomination banknote. The Ministry of Finance issued a statement on Thursday to address the circulating rumors and clarify the situation.

The statement from the Ministry of Finance categorically stated that a fake notification regarding the ban on the circulation of Rs 5000 currency notes, effective from September 30, 2023, has been making the rounds on social media platforms. The official statement further asserted that there has been no policy decision or action taken to prohibit the circulation of Rs 5000 currency notes. As of now, these banknotes remain completely valid and continue to be in circulation.
