Pakistan Releases Rs 55 Coin for Guru Nanak Anniversary

Islamabad, November 22, 2024 – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced the release of a commemorative Rs. 55 coin to mark the 555th Jayanti of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the revered founder of Sikhism. The issuance reflects Pakistan’s commitment to honoring the legacy of religious figures and promoting interfaith harmony.

Coin Features

The coin has the following specifications:

• Metal Composition: Nickel-Brass (Cu 79%, Zn 20%, Ni 1%)

• Dimension: 30.0 mm

• Weight: 13.5 grams

Obverse Design

The obverse features a waxing crescent moon and a five-pointed star in the rising position. Surrounding this, the Urdu inscription “ISLAMI JAMHURIA PAKISTAN” is engraved along the periphery. The year “2024” is placed below the crescent, flanked by two wheat springs with their arms curved upward. The coin’s face value, “55” in bold numerals, and “RUPIA” in Urdu script are displayed on the right and left sides of the crescent, respectively.

Reverse Design

The reverse side showcases the monument of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at the center. Above the monument, the words “555th Birthday Celebrations” are inscribed, while “SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI” is engraved at the bottom. The years “1469–2024” encircle the periphery, representing the span of Guru Nanak’s enduring legacy.
