PM Shehbaz Sharif condemns attacks on Saudi Arabia and pledges continued efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia following recent Houthi attacks targeting the Kingdom’s civilian and economic infrastructure.

The prime minister held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on Sunday, during which he strongly condemned the attacks and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Saudi leadership and people.

Shehbaz condemns Houthi attacks

Prime Minister Shehbaz said the Houthi attacks posed a serious threat to regional peace and security and could further disrupt the global economy, particularly energy supplies.

He said Pakistan would continue its efforts to help defuse tensions and promote peace and stability in the region.

The prime minister said he, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar would maintain their efforts towards reducing tensions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his “wise and sagacious leadership” in dealing with the ongoing regional crisis.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia to remain in close contact

During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his warm wishes and respectful regards to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in turn, appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kingdom and its efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact and expressed their desire to meet at an early date.

The conversation underscored the close ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with Islamabad reiterating its support for the Kingdom amid growing regional security concerns.
