FBR adds 59 products to the preferential import list, expanding duty and tax concessions for Uzbek goods
ISLAMABAD, August 14, 2026: Pakistan has expanded the list of goods eligible for duty and tax concessions on imports from Uzbekistan to 90 items under the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Preferential Trade Agreement.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued SRO 1349(I)/2026 on August 13, 2026, increasing the number of products covered by the preferential import regime from the previous 31 items.
The concessions apply to eligible imports from Uzbekistan under the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Preferential Trade Agreement Rules of Origin, 2023.
The rules of origin were notified by the Ministry of Commerce through SRO 289(I)/2023 dated March 6, 2023, under the preferential trade agreement between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
59 products added to preferential list
Previously, the FBR had issued SRO 329(I)/2023 on March 10, 2023, specifying 31 products eligible for duty and tax concessions on imports originating from Uzbekistan.
Through the latest notification, the FBR has added 59 products to the preferential list, taking the total number of eligible import items to 90.
The expanded list substantially broadens the range of Uzbek products that can benefit from preferential treatment when entering the Pakistani market.
Concessions subject to import rules
The preferential treatment remains subject to the Import Policy Order issued by the Ministry of Commerce, as amended from time to time.
Eligible imports must also meet the applicable rules of origin and other conditions prescribed under the Pakistan-Uzbekistan preferential trade framework.
The revised concessionary regime will therefore allow qualifying goods originating from Uzbekistan to receive the applicable duty and tax concessions once the prescribed requirements are fulfilled.
Pakistan seeks stronger Central Asian trade ties
The expansion is expected to facilitate bilateral trade by providing greater preferential market access for Uzbek products in Pakistan.
The move comes as Pakistan seeks to strengthen economic and commercial relations with Central Asian countries and expand bilateral trade through preferential arrangements.
By increasing the number of products covered by the concessionary framework from 31 to 90, the latest FBR notification formally widens the scope of preferential imports under the Pakistan-Uzbekistan trade agreement.
The measure could provide importers with greater opportunities to source eligible products from Uzbekistan while supporting efforts to increase trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
