Islamabad, December 20, 2023 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its daily weather forecast for Thursday, December 21, 2023, predicting mainly cold and dry conditions in most parts of the country.

However, the upper regions are expected to experience very cold temperatures along with partly cloudy skies.

According to the PMD, citizens across the nation can anticipate a chilly Thursday, with temperatures dropping in many areas. The upper parts of the country are likely to witness very cold weather, accompanied by partly cloudy skies, enhancing the wintry atmosphere.

Fog and smog are anticipated to persist during morning and night hours in upper Sindh, the plain areas of Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, affecting visibility and requiring residents to exercise caution while commuting.

Wednesday, December 20, 2023, was characterized by cold and dry weather in most regions of the country. The upper parts experienced very cold temperatures, and some areas witnessed partly cloudy conditions. Similar to the upcoming forecast, fog and smog lingered in upper Sindh, the plain areas of Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The synoptic situation, as described by the PMD, indicates that continental air is prevailing over most parts of Pakistan. This weather pattern contributes to the prevailing cold and dry conditions in the region.

Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather dominated most parts of the country, with exceptionally cold temperatures recorded in northern areas. The PMD’s report highlighted the lowest minimum temperatures recorded, showcasing the winter chill settling in various locations. Leh recorded -11°C, Skardu -08°C, Astore -06°C, while Kalam, Gupis registered -05°C. Gilgit, Kalat, and Srinagar experienced minimum temperatures of -04°C.
