ISLAMABAD, April 28, 2026 — The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly hot and dry weather across most parts of the country on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, with a possibility of isolated rain-windstorm and thunderstorms in upper regions.

According to the latest weather advisory, Islamabad and surrounding areas are likely to experience partly cloudy conditions with a 30% chance of rain-windstorm or thunderstorm activity during the day. Residents have been advised to remain cautious of sudden weather changes.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper districts are expected to remain partly cloudy, while isolated rain-windstorm and thunderstorms may occur in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Kurram, Waziristan, and Haripur. However, most of the province will continue to experience hot and dry conditions.

Punjab is also expected to remain partly cloudy in several districts, with chances of isolated rain-windstorm and thunderstorms in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Lahore. Other parts of the province will see persistent hot and dry weather.

Sindh will remain largely hot and dry, although dust-raising winds and gusty conditions are expected in central and southern districts during the afternoon, reducing visibility in some areas. Balochistan is also forecast to remain hot and dry in most regions.

Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to receive partly cloudy conditions with isolated rain-windstorm and thunderstorms at scattered locations.

Over the past 24 hours, isolated rain-windstorm activity was recorded in parts of Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northern Balochistan, Barkhan, and Sukkur, while hot and dry weather prevailed across other regions.

Significant rainfall included 21 mm in Dera Ghazi Khan and 19 mm in Gujranwala. The highest temperatures were recorded at 46°C in Jiwani, 44°C in Mohenjo Daro, and 43°C in Larkana, highlighting ongoing heatwave conditions in southern Pakistan.

The PMD has advised the public to take precautionary measures against extreme heat, stay hydrated, and remain alert to possible strong winds and thunderstorms in vulnerable areas.
