Pakistan Weather Update for August 3, 2023

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast for August 3, 2023, indicating that the country will experience hot and humid conditions in most areas.

However, some regions are likely to witness thundershowers and rain-wind activity.

According to the PMD, moist currents from the Arabian Sea are penetrating the upper parts of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is affecting the western and upper regions of the country. As a result, various areas are expected to receive rainfall and thundershowers on this day.

The regions where rain-wind/thundershower is anticipated include Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Potohar region, northeast Punjab, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Over the past 24 hours leading up to August 3, 2023, most parts of Pakistan experienced hot and dry weather. However, isolated rain occurred in some areas, including northeast and upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Khuzdar.

The recorded rainfall in different regions during this period is as follows:

Punjab: Gujranwala 21 mm, Murree 15 mm, Sialkot (city) 04 mm, Lahore (City) 01 mm

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kakul 21 mm, Kalam 01 mm

Kashmir: Kotli 10 mm, Rawalakot 02 mm

Balochistan: Khuzdar 03 mm

Additionally, on August 2, 2023, Dalbandin and Nokkundi reported the highest maximum temperatures of 46°C.

Citizens residing in the regions expecting thundershowers and rain-wind are advised to take necessary precautions. Motorists should exercise caution while driving, as roads may become slippery during the rain. Farmers in the affected areas can benefit from this weather condition to water their crops.
