Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves rise by $33 million to $17.26 billion

Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) increased by $33 million during the week ended July 17, 2026, reaching $17.26 billion, according to data released by the central bank on Thursday.

The SBP stated that the country’s total liquid foreign reserves stood at $22.67 billion as of July 17, 2026, reflecting an improvement in the overall external liquidity position.

According to the central bank’s latest data, SBP’s foreign exchange reserves rose to $17.2586 billion during the week under review.

“During the week ended on 17-Jul-2026, SBP’s FX reserves increased by US$33 million to US$17.2586 billion,” the central bank said.

The increase marks a positive movement in Pakistan’s foreign exchange position as the country continues to manage external financing needs and maintain reserve stability.

Commercial banks hold $5.41 billion reserves

The SBP data showed that net foreign reserves held by commercial banks amounted to $5.41 billion during the same period.

With the addition of commercial banks’ reserves, Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves reached $22.67 billion.

The country’s reserves position is closely monitored as it plays a key role in supporting import payments, exchange rate stability and investor confidence.
