Pakistan’s Javeria Khan Bids Farewell to International Cricket

Pakistan cricket stalwart, Javeria Khan, bids farewell to international cricket, marking the end of an era. With a staggering record spanning 228 matches, she amassed 4903 runs, including two centuries and 25 half-centuries, while also showcasing her bowling prowess with 28 wickets to her name.

One of the most notable aspects of Javeria’s career is her consistency across formats. She stands as the second-highest run-scorer for Pakistan in both white-ball formats, a testament to her batting prowess and adaptability.

Alongside her teammate Bismah Maroof, she remains the only player to have aggregated more than 2000 runs in each format.

Having made her international debut in 2008, Javeria has been a stalwart of Pakistan cricket, participating in four ICC Women’s Cricket World Cups and all eight ICC Women’s T20 World Cups.

Her presence in these global tournaments not only showcased her skill but also her resilience and commitment to the team’s cause.

Furthermore, Javeria’s leadership qualities shone through as she captained Pakistan in several crucial matches, including the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2018 and 2020. Her ability to lead by example and inspire her teammates made her a respected figure both on and off the field.

Tania Mallick, the Head of Women’s Cricket at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed gratitude for Javeria’s invaluable contributions to the sport.

Mallick emphasized the impact of Javeria’s career on aspiring cricketers in Pakistan, highlighting her as a role model for future generations.

As Javeria embarks on the next chapter of her life, the cricketing fraternity reflects on her remarkable journey and the indelible mark she has left on Pakistan cricket. Her retirement marks the end of an era but also opens doors for new talent to rise and carry forward the legacy she leaves behind.
