Pakistan’s Noman Ali Named ICC Player of Month for October 2024

Islamabad, November 12, 2024 – Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October 2024, following a standout performance in Pakistan’s thrilling 2-1 victory over England in the ICC World Test Championship series. Noman’s exceptional bowling efforts earned him 20 wickets at an average of 13.85, playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s series win.

The talented spinner outperformed a competitive field, including South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, to claim the prestigious monthly award. Noman’s triumph makes him the first Pakistani cricketer to win the ICC Player of the Month award since Babar Azam’s win in August 2023.

In an emotional statement, Noman Ali credited his teammates for their support throughout the series. “I am delighted to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month and deeply grateful to all my teammates who helped me put my best performances forward to help Pakistan win a historic home Test series against England,” he said. “It is always exciting to be a part of such memorable wins for your country.”

Noman’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, with two game-changing spells that helped Pakistan turn the series around after a loss in the first Test. His match figures of 11/147 in the second Test and 9/130 in the third Test were instrumental in securing Pakistan’s first Test series win at home in three years.

In the second Test, Pakistan set a challenging 297-run target for England, and Noman Ali delivered a stunning spell with the ball. His career-best Test figures of 8/46 sealed the victory for Pakistan, helping the team to their first Test win at home since 2021.

Noman continued his heroics in the final Test in Rawalpindi, where he not only contributed with the bat, scoring a resilient 45 runs at No.9, but also made a significant impact with the ball. His brilliant six-wicket haul bowled England out for just 112 in the second innings, securing Pakistan’s nine-wicket victory and the series win.

Noman Ali’s exceptional all-round performance in October 2024 has not only earned him the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award but also made him a national hero, playing a key role in Pakistan’s remarkable Test series victory over England.
