Pakistan’s Pace Trio Shines Bright in Asia Cup

Dinesh Karthik, the former Indian cricketer and renowned commentator, showered praise on Pakistan’s formidable fast bowling trio consisting of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah on September 03.

This commendation comes in the wake of their spectacular performance in the Pakistan-India Asia Cup match, which ended prematurely due to rain.

Speaking exclusively to Cricbuzz, Karthik lauded the trio’s remarkable consistency in delivering thunderous deliveries exceeding 90 miles per hour, setting them apart as exceptional pace bowlers.

When asked to weigh the strengths of the Pakistani pace trio against India’s own pace arsenal, featuring Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj, Karthik leaned in favor of the Pakistani bowlers.

He highlighted the unique attributes of each of the Pakistani fast bowlers: Shaheen’s deceptive left-arm angle and crafty ball movement, Naseem’s mastery in swinging the ball both ways, and Haris Rauf’s fiery deliveries and intimidating bouncers.

Furthermore, Karthik expressed that he’d find it more challenging to face the Pakistani trio on flat wickets, emphasizing that the bounce generated by these bowlers would pose a stiffer test for batsmen.

In a historic turn of events during the match, the Pakistani trio etched their names in the annals of cricket history by becoming the first set of pacers to capture all 10 wickets in an Asia Cup (ODI) contest.

Regrettably, the game was curtailed due to heavy rain, but Pakistan advanced to the super four stage of the tournament, leaving a lasting mark with their blistering pace and unmatched skills.
