Pakistan’s Test Cricket Season Kicks Off Wednesday in Rawalpindi

Pakistan cricket fans are in for an exciting time as the national team prepares to kick off their much-anticipated Test season with a series against Bangladesh.

The two-match series is set to begin on Wednesday, August 21st, at the iconic Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This series marks the start of Pakistan’s busiest Test season since the 1998-99 campaign, and the anticipation is palpable.

A New Era for Pakistan Cricket

This Test series is particularly significant as it marks the first international assignment for Jason Gillespie, Pakistan’s newly appointed red-ball head coach. Gillespie, who took charge in April, is expected to bring his wealth of experience and expertise to the team.

Additionally, this series will be Shan Masood’s first Test match as captain on home soil, a momentous occasion for the seasoned opener. With a new coach and a new captain, Pakistan is entering a new chapter in its red-ball cricket journey, one filled with high hopes and expectations.

ICC World Test Championship Battle Intensifies

Currently sitting sixth in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings, Pakistan is eager to improve its position. The series against Bangladesh presents a critical opportunity for the team to gain valuable points.

Pakistan’s recent Test record includes a 2-0 series win against Sri Lanka and a 3-0 loss to Australia. The team will be looking to bounce back and build momentum as they continue their campaign in the Championship.
