Michael Jackson’s daughter has asked a Los Angeles court to reduce executor John Branca’s compensation, while the estate has rejected her allegations as baseless.

Paris Jackson has escalated her legal dispute with the executors of her late father Michael Jackson’s estate, alleging that John Branca is seeking more than $100 million in compensation for two years of work.

In a court filing dated October 28 in Los Angeles, Paris accused Branca of submitting incomplete disclosures to justify the substantial fees. According to Billboard, she described the filings as “defective” and argued that the estate’s executor had failed to meet his disclosure obligations.

As a penalty for the alleged shortcomings, Paris has requested that Branca’s compensation be reduced from 15 per cent to 10 per cent of the estate’s gross entertainment-related income.

The Michael Jackson estate has strongly rejected the request, describing it as “nonsensical” and “absurd”. It said Branca had waived compensation from the outset and had only received a separate, court-approved management fee for overseeing the singer’s business interests.

The estate’s representatives also defended the executors’ financial record, stating that their management had transformed an estate burdened by approximately $500 million in debt into a business valued at more than $2 billion.

The dispute follows a May court ruling that went in Paris Jackson’s favour. A judge found that $625,000 in bonuses paid to three external law firms had been improper and ordered the money to be returned to the estate.

The latest filing adds another chapter to the ongoing disagreement over the management, financial disclosures and compensation arrangements surrounding Michael Jackson’s estate.
