Partly Cloudy Weather Predicted for Karachi this Weekend

Islamabad, October 4, 2024 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted partly cloudy weather for Karachi, the bustling financial and commercial hub of the country, this weekend.

According to the PMD, Karachi is likely to witness partly cloudy skies on both Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6, 2024. While the clouds may offer some respite from the city’s usual hot and humid climate, the temperatures are expected to remain warm.

The PMD highlighted that most parts of the country will experience mainly hot and dry weather on Saturday, October 5. However, some areas in the northern parts of Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab, may see isolated showers or thunderstorms. These rain spells are expected to bring slight relief from the persistent dry conditions in these regions.

The weather department also shared insights on the broader synoptic situation, noting that continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. However, a shallow westerly wave is anticipated to approach the upper regions of Pakistan tonight, potentially bringing scattered showers and a slight dip in temperatures in northern areas.

Looking at the weather forecast for today, Friday, October 4, the PMD predicts predominantly hot and dry weather across most parts of the country during the daytime. Despite the overall dry conditions, light rain and thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Potohar region, and northeastern Punjab.

In terms of recent weather activity, the PMD reported that hot and dry conditions prevailed in most parts of Pakistan over the past 24 hours. Yesterday’s highest recorded temperatures were particularly severe in certain regions, with Dadu reaching a scorching 45°C. Other areas, including Mohenjo Daro, saw temperatures as high as 43°C, while Sibi, Bahawalnagar, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Padaidan recorded highs of 42°C.

As the weekend approaches, Karachi residents may find some relief in the partly cloudy skies, though temperatures will remain elevated. Meanwhile, people in northern regions should be prepared for possible rain and thunderstorms, especially those residing in mountainous or vulnerable areas. The PMD has advised citizens to stay updated on local weather conditions and plan their outdoor activities accordingly.
