Lahore, November 21, 2024 – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially appointed Mr. Sumair Ahmad Syed, the PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, as the Tournament Director for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held in Pakistan.
PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed confidence in Syed’s ability to successfully manage the prestigious event.
“Sumair is an exceptionally organized professional with extensive administrative experience. His passion for cricket, combined with his expertise, makes him the ideal choice to oversee the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. I am confident that under his leadership, the tournament will be a resounding success, providing an unforgettable experience for players, officials, and fans alike,” said Naqvi.
Naqvi also highlighted the significance of the tournament for Pakistan, emphasizing its potential to showcase the country’s ability to host world-class cricket events. “The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be a historic milestone, as it is the biggest sporting event to take place in Pakistan in recent years. He also noted the crucial role of the PCB’s experienced events team, which has successfully managed nine editions of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), including the last five held in Pakistan. “Our team’s experience will be pivotal in making this tournament a success. I am committed to working closely with them and the ICC, leaving no stone unturned to exceed the expectations set by previous ICC Champions Trophy editions,” Syed affirmed.
