Islamabad, May 9, 2025 — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed that the remaining matches of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be relocated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to escalating regional tensions and security concerns.
In a statement issued on Friday, the PCB announced that the final eight matches of PSL 10, originally scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore, will now take place in the UAE. The revised match schedule, including specific venues and dates, will be released in the coming days.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep regret over the decision but emphasized that the safety of players and officials remains the board’s top priority. “The PCB has always maintained that sports should remain separate from politics. However, the highly irresponsible and provocative act by India in targeting Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium has left us with no choice,” he stated.
According to the PCB, the attack appeared to be an attempt to deliberately sabotage the ongoing PSL 10 tournament and jeopardize the safety of both domestic and international players. Chairman Naqvi added, “Our players, particularly our foreign guests, deserve a secure environment. By relocating to the UAE, the PCB is ensuring that the remainder of the HBL PSL is conducted without disruption.”
The PCB also acknowledged the disappointment of local cricket fans who were eagerly anticipating the PSL matches in Pakistani stadiums. “It is unfortunate that our loyal supporters in Pakistan will miss out on witnessing live action in their home cities. But we ask for their understanding and continued support during these challenging times,” Naqvi said.
This is not the first time that the PSL has been moved to the UAE, with several past editions also being played there due to security-related reasons. The PCB reaffirmed its commitment to making PSL a symbol of resilience and excellence in Pakistani cricket, regardless of the location.
With this move, the PCB aims to maintain the momentum and integrity of PSL 10, ensuring that the tournament continues to offer world-class cricket and entertainment to fans around the globe. All eyes are now on the UAE as it prepares to host the concluding and most crucial stages of the PSL.
